As we move into the last few days of May and Week 25 of the project, enormous quantities of sand and stone have been delivered and dealt with as the garage and covered walkway walls are well up and the main oak beams are on site ready for positioning in the coming days.
The tiler M de Souza and his team arrived 7.30 Friday morning- before I had even taken the entrance barricade down ( unfortunately La Famille Sanglier are still visiting the garden on a regular basis) and were soon busy in the kitchen. They poured the concrete skim over the floor covering the underfloor heating pipes. At least 2 weeks of complete drying helped by hopefully, warm, dry, breezy weather will be required before they can begin laying the floor tiles.
The day became progressively duller and heavy rain started early afternoon forcing the builders to give up by 3.30pm. Hopefully, they do not have too much to deal with tomorrow before the return of Team Rapaud with the " Gros Engin"!
Garden wise, the vegetable plot has been enlarged and is being planted up as I type. The new roses are blooming and existing plants have stood up well to the very strong wind ( vent d'Autan) which has been a feature of the past 10 days.
The swifts continue to circulate & feed on the numerous insects, but do not seem to be nesting. The frogs are still very much in full voice and will no doubt be awaiting the return of Monday and lots of machinery noise to compete with.
