In addition to supervising the " works", the existing kitchen terrace is also a great vantage point for nature observation and we have now seen the swifts going into ventilation holes in the pigeonnier roof and not coming back out for some time, so confidant that they are indeed nesting. " Fly byes" of up to 12 or so birds are a frequent feature of each day from dawn 'til dusk too.
With summer like temperatures of 30 C plus since Thurs, the lavender flowers are on the verge of blooming- bees are busy on the neighboring canterbury bells, early lilies & poppies continue to flower and numerous dragon fly casings around the lake steps indicate that a large number have hatched.

The Koi Carp which I fished out of the small pond just ahead of it's infill prior to works starting in Nov have been very visible and the resident Grandfather carp is larger than ever. Small grass snakes, pond skaters, ducks, the ever vocal frogs and others are present in various parts of the lake.
Building work is pretty much completed although the builders will be on site for another month to point all the walls, build the new surrounding walls of the courtyard & entrance as well as laying the terrace paving. The roofers are " de retour" and are advancing quickly with the garage roof.
The tilers completed the kitchen floor on Fri and M Granata, the kitchen supplier was here at 8.30am this morning to deliver the kitchen units and begin the installation. M Rumpler, the joiner is also back today and tomorrow to fit the interior doors, windows sills and take the final measurements for the wooden section of the terrace.
By the end of this week, the stone supplier will be fitting the countertops and hopefully the electricians and plumbers will be back on site to fit the new toilet and deal with all the connections.
