Three weeks since I last updated due to having been away on " medical duty" in Scotland. All well there and despite a later than planned return due to fog at Southhampton, I have managed to catch up on most jobs inside and out.
The sun finally came through the day I left… for 12 days and then disappeared the day I came back. Having said that, today was scorching, spring is definitely with us and lost time due to bad weather and extra jobs requested by us has been made up.
The painters have finished indoors and it looks really good and bright. The builders have completed their stint meantime on the new kitchen and replanted the tree which has to be moved to make way for the new garage. They also successfully laid the new terrace foundation support in the lake without any problems in spite of high water levels.
The roofers are back in force with the new roof timbers- oak frame ( from the Allier region of France) and douglas fir cross beams and as you can see the roof frame is quickly being raised. Le " gros engin" is also back on site to facilitate the lifting of what are very substantial lengths of timber.
Fingers crossed that the decent weather holds- rain forecast this weekend- and we could be looking at the roof completion within a fortnight. Both the carpenter and plasterer are lined up to be on site withinthe next 4 weeks, so as we move into Week 17 , the project is definitely progressing well.
